Write Accepted Students in Your Area
UGA’s “Give That Dawg a Bone” card-writing campaign is a great way for alumni to mail notes to admitted high school students to encourage them to choose UGA. Each campaign runs from mid-December through early April; please sign up to participate by October 1.
I’ve been writing notes for the “Give That Dawg a Bone” campaign for several years. I typically receive emails back from several admitted students, and last year, I set a time to chat with a student who was debating between commuting to Georgia State University from Gwinnett or enrolling at UGA and living on campus. We discussed her background and interests, and the pros and cons. I was able to share with her how rich of a collegiate experience I thought she’d have in Athens. About a month later, she texted to let me know she was going to UGA! This spring, she texted me saying how much she appreciated helping her make the decision to attend UGA because she had a great year. We chatted a few days later about her applying to Terry, her major and minor, and we plan to meet in person this fall. Thank you for hosting this program; I believe it changes lives!
