The President’s Medal
The President’s Medal recognizes extraordinary contributions by individuals who are not current UGA employees and who have supported students and academic programs, advanced research, and inspired community leaders to enhance the quality of life of citizens in Georgia. Medals are presented during the annual Founders Day Luncheon in January. Scroll below to view previous medal recipients.
Nominations are now being accepted for the President’s Medal. Nominees must have a connection to the university but cannot be a current UGA employee. Individuals currently serving as appointed or elected officials in local, state or federal positions also are ineligible. Nominations must be received by the UGA Office of the President no later than November 17, 2025.
Nominations for the 2026 President’s Medal are open until Nov. 17.

On Jan. 27, 2026, UGA bestowed President’s Medals on Mr. John R. “Jack” Bauerle, Retired Tom Cousins Swimming and Diving Head Coach, and Dr. Anne L. Sweaney, Professor Emeritus, College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
