To commemorate the 55th anniversary of Dr. Hamilton E. Holmes’ and Charlayne Hunter-Gault’s graduation from UGA, the Black Alumni Affinity Group is hosting a fundraising campaign for the endowed Black Alumni Scholarship. Hamilton (BS ’63) and Charlayne (ABJ ’63) followed Mary Frances Early (MMED ’62, EDS ’71), UGA’s first African American graduate– and now there are nearly 15,000 Black alumni.
The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund currently supports four students, and the goal is to increase the number of students receiving the scholarship as well as the dollar amount each student is awarded by 2021. Supporters who give a gift of $19.61 or more to the Black Alumni Scholarship Fund by June 30 will be charter members of The 1961 Club Giving Society. Led by the UGA Black Alumni Affinity group, this special group of donors is committed to removing barriers to education for students through regular and generous giving to the Black Alumni Scholarship Fund.
All eligible incoming freshmen can apply for the Black Alumni Scholarship, regardless of race.
It began with their courage, it continues with our commitment.
