2025 Alumni Merit Award
Terry Brown
It was Terry Brown’s (BBA ’84) earliest UGA memory — being in Sanford Stadium as a six-year-old watching the Archie Manning-led Ole Miss Rebels take on the Georgia Bulldogs, that would solidify more than 50 years of passion and support for the University of Georgia, its students, and various programs across campus.
As a member of the Terry College of Business Pinnacle Society and an avid supporter of the Morehead Honors College, study abroad scholarships, and UGA’s School of Medicine, Brown has played an integral role in the expansion and continued growth of UGA’s campus and student resources. That day in Sanford Stadium also guided Brown to support the university’s athletics program as a member of the Silver Circle in the Magill Society.
Brown has also given his time and expertise through many high-impact volunteer roles across the University of Georgia’s campus, including serving as a member of the UGA Foundation Board of Trustees for nine years, with two terms on the executive committee as treasurer. Brown was also a member of the Foundation’s inaugural Emeritus Trustees Leadership Committee. During his time as a trustee, Brown visited UGA study abroad campuses in Oxford, England, Cortona, Italy, and Washington D.C.
With more than 30 years of real estate experience in retail strategy, investments, capital markets, operations, and business and organizational development, Brown has been a frequent and highly respected guest speaker and mentor within the Terry College of Business. Brown is a founder and managing partner of Asana Partners, a vertically integrated real estate private equity firm with more than $8 billion in assets under management. The company is known for investing in and transforming experiential mixed-use and retail destinations.
Prior to co-founding Asana Partners, Brown was chairman and chief executive officer of EDENS, one of the nation’s leading owners, operators, and developers of retail real estate. Before this role, he was a partner at Arthur Andersen and chief executive officer of Andersen Corporate Finance, LLC, responsible for its U.S. merger and acquisitions advisory business across all industry sectors. He began his career as a United States Army officer.
Brown was named a 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Regional Award winner and national finalist. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia and was honored with a Terry College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013. Brown has passed down his commitment to service and philanthropy to his three children, two of whom are UGA graduates and now involved across the campus.
“Terry has been a leader for UGA for many years and has always been someone the university can depend on when we need him. Because of his generosity and commitment to UGA, our students now have opportunities for life-changing educational experiences that they would not otherwise have access to.”
