Hello/Hola Alumni Familia!

My name is Jazmine Medrano, and as the president of the Latino Alumni Council I am reaching out to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and dedication to UGA. The Latino Alumni Council is committed to creating a supportive network that celebrates the unique experiences and accomplishments of our Latino/a/e students, alumni and all Dawgs. Representation and inclusion are not only important to UGA students, it’s important for our UGA alumni, too.

We have been able to do some great things together, so I wanted to share those with you!

Since coming together as an official affinity group in 2021, we have established the Latino Alumni Scholarship Fund and raised $41,718. This allows us to provide annual need-based scholarships for first-generation undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment to serving the inclusion of historically underrepresented communities. GRACIAS! We are so thankful for every one of your contributions — whether through Dawg Day of Giving, Una Noche Unidos or the Ugly Sweater Social, it has contributed to the betterment of our students. So, remember, no contribution is too small.

At the Ugly Sweater Social, we also collected 60 toys for LaAmistad, a nonprofit based in Atlanta that provides programming such as after-school tutoring, parent education, English for a Successful Life classes, and summer enrichment activities. We are set to partner with their students this summer to provide high school students an opportunity to tour UGA’s campus.

Thank you again for your continued support. Go Dawgs!

Sincerely,

Jazmine Medrano (BSFCS ’15)

President, Latino Alumni Council
