Young Alumni Leadership Council Finish the Drill Scholarship
Founded in 2024, the Young Alumni Leadership Council Finish the Drill Scholarship Fund aims to support undergraduate students who have 60+ credit hours and require additional financial assistance in order to complete their degree. Join us in helping students finish the drill!
Embark@UGA
Embark@UGA provides direct support to students who have experienced homelessness and/or foster care. Learn more about Embark@UGA.
Fresh Express
Fresh Express is a student-led emergency food assistance program that helps bridge the gap between student food insecurity and nutritious food options.
UGA Student Emergency Fund
The UGA Student Emergency Fund provides financial assistance to students facing hardship related to an emergency situation. Learn more about Support Funds.
Be a Mentor for a Current Student
Help students succeed in their personal, academic and professional endeavors by becoming a mentor. The UGA Mentor Program offers a personalized experience, allowing you to connect with students no matter your location or schedule. Not sure where to start? Dialogue with a Dawg
The Dialogue with a Dawg program gives alumni the opportunity to connect with a small group of students over a meal. To learn more about hosting or to nominate a host, head over to the Dialogue with a Dawg nomination form.
Career Services
The Alumni Career Services Office, located at UGA, on the 2nd floor of Clark Howell Hall, offers FREE career coaching services for all UGA alumni.
Services include:
- One-on-one career counseling via in-person, phone, or Skype.
- An Alumni Career Services website with up-to-date information on job search and career development topics to meet your needs
- Access to Handshake, UGA’s online job board for alumni and students (if you do not yet have an alumni Handshake account, click here.
- A monthly career e-newsletter – Jobs for Dawgs (sent via Handshake)
- Access to Career Fairs, free professional development webinars and special events
Young Alumni Leadership Council
The mission of the Young Alumni Leadership Council is to encourage lifelong commitment, build connection, and ensure investment in the University of Georgia through volunteer activities, experiential opportunities, philanthropic initiatives and outreach activities.
With a presence of over 40,000 young alumni in Atlanta, members of the Young Alumni Leadership Council have been charged with creating and implementing programming and to raise awareness of the importance of connecting and giving back to the university.

What is the Young Alumni Leadership Council (YALC)?
The Young Alumni Leadership Council is a group of passionate alumni volunteers age 29 and under. Throughout the year, the council plans events and initiatives to connect Bulldogs to their alma mater and fellow alumni.
What is the purpose of the YALC?
The mission of the Young Alumni Leadership Council is to encourage lifelong commitment, build connection, and ensure investment in the University of Georgia through:
- Volunteer activities;
- Experiential opportunities;
- Philanthropic initiatives;
- Promotional and outreach activities.
Who are “young alumni?”
The Young Alumni Leadership Council serves alumni (undergraduate or graduate) age 29 and under.
What are the roles and responsibilities of the YALC?
The Young Alumni Leadership Council nurtures a welcoming community for young alumni and encourages meaningful connections back to the university. In addition, the council serves as an advisory group to the Alumni Association, meeting monthly to plan programs and events.
All members of the council:
- Serve a two-year term;
- Attend three to four in-person council meetings each year;
- Complete relevant training as assigned;
- Donate a minimum of $300 per fiscal year (July – June) to the UGA Foundation or other academic pursuits at UGA.
An executive board (President, Vice President, and Secretary) is elected by council members to oversee initiatives and programming. Members of the executive board must first serve a term as a council member
What types of programming and events do the YALC work on?
Some examples of YALC events and programming are:
- Trivia Nights
- Tailgates
- Service Days
How do I apply for the YALC?
Applications for the Young Alumni Leadership Council open each fall.
Eligible candidates must:
- Be a University of Georgia graduate;
- Reside in the Atlanta/Metro-Atlanta area;
- Be 29 years old or younger.
I am no longer a member of the young alumni population. What are other ways I can get involved with the UGA Alumni Association?
Alumni of all ages are welcome to attend Young Alumni events.
In addition to Young Alumni, the Alumni Association offers three other official affinity groups: Black Alumni, Latino Alumni and Women of UGA.
