Jackie Sherry

Biography

Jackie has built a career dedicated to environmental stewardship, education, and community engagement through her work with the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. As water conservation coordinator, she leads initiatives that help residents understand and protect water resources, overseeing 500 programs that reached over 18,000 adults and children in 2025 while advancing nationally recognized conservation efforts. A two-time Warnell graduate, Jackie first discovered her passion for environmental education through experiences and mentorship at UGA, including a graduate assistantship with the Athens-Clarke County Water Conservation Office that ultimately shaped her professional path. Beyond her work in water conservation, she is a committed community leader, serving on the boards of Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful and Friends of the Athens-Clarke County Library, while mentoring UGA students and young professionals. Recognized with the Warnell School’s 2025 Distinguished Young Alumni Award, Jackie remains deeply connected to the university, supporting students, alumni programs and partnerships that strengthen both UGA and the Athens community.
