The UGA Houston Alumni Chapter will be hosting a Dawgs and Derby Night at Sam Houston Horse Park on May 25. They will also have wiener dog racing between the horse races this particular Saturday! Freshman Welcome is an annual event, hosted the day before the first day of classes. By participating in Freshman Welcome students complete tradition #4 of the G-book, "Between the Hedges."  Before forming a human "G" on the field and having their picture taken as a class, students hear welcoming words from the university leaders.  Additionally, students learn and practice the football cheers in preparation for their first game between the hedges as students at the University of Georgia.
