On Jan. 9, 1961, Hamilton E. Holmes (BS ’63) and Charlayne Hunter-Gault (ABJ ’63) became the first Black students to register for classes at UGA. They were later joined by Mary Frances Early (MMED ’62, EDS ’67).
This year, the university will commemorate the 60th anniversary of desegregation by hosting a variety of campus events. Join us in recognizing the legacy these alumni established at the University of Georgia.
